The January 11 issue of the the Post’s ‘Outlook’ section includes an opinion piece by William Jelani Cobb titled (by the editors, I assume) ‘In the Age of Obama, Still Playing the Race Card’. I did not read Mr. Cobb’s article, but I did go to the front page of the Sunday edition to see if it referred to inauguration of Mr. Obama as historic. It did.
But what exactly is historic about Mr. Obama? If you do not possess the sense that certain races can’t achieve what others can, then the “first of his race” does not seem historic at all.
